The UPMC Scholars Program is a commitment between the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) to increase diverse nursing talent.
Along with an exceptional tuition-free scholarship from a world-class program, successful UPMC Scholars will be guaranteed a graduate nurse role at one of UPMC’s nationally recognized hospitals (with plenty of mentorship along the way). The program requires academic rigor along with a three year, post-graduation work commitment with UPMC.
This program is by invitation only. Students must be admitted to the School of Nursing and are required to submit an essay and participate in a Skype interview for consideration for this prestigious new scholarship.
Essays must answer the following question:
What is a quality nurse and what is quality patient care?
Essays must be e-mailed to Lori Greenblatt at firstname.lastname@example.org by January 15.
After reviewing candidate’s essays, those selected to advance to the next round of consideration will be invited to a Skype interview.
Top candidates will also be invited to an optional visit to Pitt and UPMC on March 5. You will have the opportunity to meet leadership in nursing, human resources, and operations and learn the full details of the tuition-free arrangement and employment guarantee between UPMC and Pitt. The University of Pittsburgh will reimburse all travel for students and families.
