Sample A Class

Available weekdays during the fall, spring, and summer terms.
For freshmen and transfers.

Sit in on a University class. To participate, check the current schedule and report directly to the designated building and room. Most classes are 50 minutes long. On some days, examinations will be administered. We have no way of monitoring that and suggest that you quietly leave the class if this is the case.

You do not need to register for Sample A Class.

College of Business Administration Information Sessions

Monday, Thursday, and Friday only at 1:30 p.m.
Allow about 60 minutes.
Designed for freshmen.
No need to call ahead; just go to 2100 Sennott Square.

Learn how Pitt Business takes students from the classroom, to the city, to the world. The session is conducted by a member of the Pitt Business admissions team. It will focus on our academic program, experience-based learning opportunities, internships, career development, student life, global options, and more.

If you plan on visiting other than the times/days listed above please call 412-383-9600 to make an appointment.

It is recommended that prospective transfer students schedule an individual appointment with a representative from the College of Business Administration by calling 412-383-9600.

College of General Studies Information Sessions

Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 2 p.m.
Allow about 60 minutes.
Designed for students interested in CGS majors.
No need to call ahead; just go to 1400 Wesley W. Posvar Hall (1st Floor).

CGS’ priorities are providing our students with a high-quality education that will help them change or advance their careers, and supporting them with the personalized services and resources they need to achieve their academic and professional aspirations.

It is recommended that prospective transfer students schedule an individual pre-admissions counseling appointment with a representative from the CGS by calling 412-624-6600.

Swanson School of Engineering Tours

Monday and Friday at noon and 1 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 1 p.m.

Allow about 90 minutes.
152b Benedum Hall – Please check-in at the main reception desk in the lobby.

Tour the engineering facilities, labs, and classrooms along with hearing information on the first-year engineering curriculum and engineering student services with a current Pitt engineering student. A first-year engineering program staff member will also be available after the tour for questions.

No appointment or registration is necessary for Swanson School of Engineering tours at the days and times listed above. If you have additional questions you can contact the First-Year Engineering Program Office at 412-624-9825.

Please note, our engineering tours are only offered when classes are in session. Please check our Academic Calendar for a complete list of campus closures.

School of Nursing Information Sessions/Tours

BSN Information Session (for High School Students and External Transfer Students): Friday at 1 p.m.
Internal Transfer Session (for current Pitt students): Tuesday at 2 p.m. (fall & spring terms only)

Tours: Friday at noon guided by an RxAmbassador (PharmD Student)

Leaving from 904 Salk Hall, The Curran Center for Pharmacy Students – this is a tour of Salk Hall – home of PittPharmacy.

Personalized visits by appointment: Monday – Friday (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

This session will provide you with information regarding our academic program, experience–based learning opportunities, internships, career development/experiential learning – rotations as a pharmacy student, student life, global options, and more. Allow about 75 minutes for the information session and tour.

University Honors College Information Sessions

Monday and Friday only at 1 p.m.
Session is informal; stay as long as you like.
No need to call ahead; just go to the 35th Floor of the Cathedral of Learning.
Freshmen and transfers welcome.

Learn about the UHC, honors courses, the Bachelor of Philosophy Degree, advising, research fellowships, summer field programs in Wyoming, and other unique academic opportunities.

Study Abroad Office Open Houses

Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Allow 15-30 minutes
No need to call ahead; just go to 802 William Pitt Union.

Our advisors can help you combine your study abroad experience with a certificate program in African, Asian, European Union, Latin American, Russian and East European, Western European, Transatlantic, or Global Studies. You can study abroad as early as the summer after your freshman year.

Group Visits

If you are interested in scheduling a visit for a group of 10 or more students, you must contact the the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid Undergraduate Visit Center directly at 412-624-7717.

Group Visits must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance and can only be scheduled Monday-Friday, based on availability.
