Physician Assistant Guarantee—School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences
Indicate Pre-Physician Assistant as an intended field of study on the admissions application. Your complete undergraduate application for admission and supporting credentials must be received by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (OAFA) by December 1.
To compete for the guarantee and earn eligibility to apply for an interview with the Physician Assistant Program, candidates must:
- Be in the top 10% of high school graduating class.
- Achieve a combined SAT Math & Critical Reading (verbal) score of 1450 (32 ACT Composite score).
Candidates meeting these criteria will receive initial notification of their eligibility to apply for the guarantee by the undergraduate Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. A letter from the Dean of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences will be sent asking for the candidate to submit additional information directly to the PA Program in support of their candidacy with a deadline. Students selected on the basis of their submissions will be invited for an interview with the PA Program. Final candidates are chosen on the basis of their interview.
Students offered the freshman guarantee must earn an overall GPA of 3.75 or higher and a science GPA of 3.75 or higher at Pitt; complete the prerequisite courses and requirements for the PA Program; have at least 40 hours of shadowing a PA; achieve minimum scores at the 50th percentile on the verbal and quantitative sections and a score of 3.5 or better on the analytical writing section of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE); and meet with PA faculty member at least once a year providing proof of GPA and courses taken.
Students offered the guarantee must complete their undergraduate degree at Pitt in four years.
Up to 5 guarantees will be offered each year.
