Your Create A Day will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a one-on-one appointment with an admissions counselor, and may include any of the following:

  • A presentation highlighting our outstanding University, followed by a tour of campus with one of the Pitt Pathfinders.
  • A meeting with a University Honors College academic advisor.
  • Sitting in on a class related to your interests.
  • An academic departmenal visit so you can see the academic facilities and learn about programs in the College of Business Administration, the School of Nursing, the Swanson School of Engineering, the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, or the Study Abroad Office
  • Lunch compliments of the University of Pittsburgh.

By registering online, we will also:

  • Provide up to $250 in reimbursement for travel expenses, pending the submission of your completed application and W9 form**
  • Provide one night of hotel accommodations the night before your visit for you and your parent(s) or guardian(s)
* Please note Create A Day visits cannot be scheduled on any of the following dates: February 27, March 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, or 31, and April 1, 7, 8, or 29.
* Fee waiver only applicable if you have not already paid an application fee.
**Travel Expenses Reimbursement Guidelines:
  • In order for your visit to be considered a Create A Day, and thus be eligible for reimbursement, you must meet with an admissions counselor and complete at least four other activities while on campus (i.e. lunch with an admissions counselor, general information session, meeting with an advisor and campus tour)
  • You must submit an application for admission, or have an application on file before the conclusion of your visit.
  • You must submit a W9 form (this will be sent to you by your Admissions Counselor host). *please note that you will need your Social Security number to complete the W9 form.
  • Your original travel receipts must be received no later than two weeks following your visit. Please note that any ticket reimbursement (i.e. plan, train, or bus) is for the student's travel expenses only.
  • Reimbursement offer is valid for one time only, and to be used no later than May 1.
  • Hotel offer valid one time only, can only be used the night before the visit, and can be used no later than May 1. *covered one night hotel stay is only valid for the Wyndham reservation made through our office, we will not reimburse for reservations made at other hotels
  • Reimbursement from the university will not exceed the maximum $250.00 allotted.
  • Reimbursement options:
    • Taxi/Parking/Toll Fees (receipts required)
    • Airfare, bus fare or train fare for the STUDENT ONLY (receipts required)
    • Mileage (gas receipts NOT required)
      • The University will calculate mileage rates to and from your home address
    • Meals (receipts required)
      • The maximum reimbursement for total meal amount per day is $54/day per diem. For example:
        • A family’s meals for the day total = $100 – the university will only reimburse the $54 per diem.
        • A family’s meals for the day total = $50 – the university will only reimburse for $50 for that day.
  • Per NCAA guidelines, prospective student athletes are not eligible to take advantage of Create A Day visits, this includes anyone who has arranged a meeting with varsity athletic staff during their visit. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and would be happy to arrange an alternative visit type for you and your family.
