Your Create a Day will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a one-on-one appointment with an Enrollment Services Manager, and may include any of the following:

  • A tour of campus with a Pitt Pathfinder, one of our student ambassadors and tour guides, to learn about student life at Pitt.
  • A presentation highlighting our outstanding University.
  • Sitting in on a class related to your interests.
  • An academic departmental visit so you can see the facilities and learn about programs in the College of Business Administration, the School of Nursing, the Swanson School of Engineering, the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, the Study Abroad Office, or the University Honors College.
  • A meeting with academic advisors and University staff to learn about school-specific opportunities and academic resources.
  • Lunch with an Enrollment Services Manager, compliments of the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Have something different in mind? We'd love to help fulfill your special requests.

If you register for Create a Day, we will also:

  • Provide up to $250 in reimbursement for travel expenses
  • Provide one night of hotel accommodations the night before your visit for you and your parent(s) or guardian(s)

Create a Day visits cannot be scheduled on any of the following dates: November 23-24, December 22-January 2, January 15, February 19, February 26, March 9, March 16, March 23, April 6, April 13, and April 25-27.

Travel Expenses Reimbursement Guidelines:

  • In order for your visit to be considered a Create a Day and be eligible for reimbursement, you must meet with an Enrollment Services Manager and complete at least four other activities while on campus (exe: lunch with an Enrollment Services Manager, general information session, meeting with an advisor, and campus tour).
  • You must submit a W-9 form in the students' name (this will be sent to you by your Enrollment Services Manager host). You will need your Social Security number to complete the W-9 form.
  • Your original travel receipts must be received no later than two weeks following your visit. Any ticket reimbursement (i.e. plane, train, or bus) is for the student's travel expenses only.
  • The reimbursement offer is valid for one time only and must be used no later than May 1.
  • Hotel offer valid one time only, can only be used the night before the visit, and can be used no later than May 1. Your covered one night hotel stay is only valid for the Wyndham reservation made through our office, we will not reimburse for reservations made at other hotels.
  • Reimbursement from the University will not exceed the maximum $250 allotted.
  • Reimbursement options:
    • Taxi/Parking/Toll Fees (receipts required)
    • Airfare, bus fare, or train fare for the student only (receipts required)
    • Mileage
      • Personal vehicles (fuel receipts NOT required): The University will calculate mileage rates to and from your home address.
      • Rental cars: We will not accept mileage for rental cars but we will reimburse for fuel with receipts.
    • Meals (receipts required)
      • The maximum reimbursement for total meal amount per day is $54/day per diem. For example:
        • A family's meals for the day total = $100 – the University will only reimburse the $54 per diem
        • A family's meals for the day total = $50 – the University will only reimburse for $50 for that day
  • Please allow at least 6-8 weeks processing time before your reimbursement is mailed to you.
  • Per NCAA guidelines, prospective student athletes are not eligible to take advantage of Create a Day visits, this includes anyone who has arranged a meeting with varsity athletic staff during their visit. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and would be happy to arrange an alternative visit type for you and your family.
