Physician Assistant Guarantee—School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences
For initial consideration, you can either select “Pre-Physician Assistant Program” as your Intended Field of Study in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, or select “Physician Assistant” in the Guaranteed Admission Program dropdown box on the Application for Undergraduate Admission. Only first-year students can be considered for the guarantee. Your complete undergraduate application for admission and supporting credentials must be received by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (OAFA) by January 15.
To compete for the guarantee and earn eligibility to apply for an interview with the Physician Assistant Program, candidates must:
- Be in the top 10% of high school graduating class.
- Achieve a combined SAT Math & Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 1450 (33 ACT Composite score).
Candidates meeting these criteria will receive initial notification of their eligibility to apply for the guarantee by the undergraduate Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. A letter from the Dean of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences will be sent asking for the candidate to submit additional information directly to the PA Program in support of their candidacy with a deadline. Students selected on the basis of their submissions will be notified by the PA Program if they are awarded the guarantee.
Students offered the guarantee must earn an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher and a science GPA of 3.5 or higher at Pitt; complete the prerequisite courses and requirements for the PA Program; and meet with a PA Studies faculty or staff member at least once a year providing proof of GPA and courses taken.
Students offered the guarantee must complete their undergraduate degree at Pitt in four years.
